Status Details & Usage

Active Status

When to use Active:
  • Rabbit is currently in your rabbitry
  • Available for breeding
  • Being shown or evaluated
  • Growing out for future decisions
  • Default status for all new breeders

Key Point: Active rabbits appear in breeding pair selections and reports.

Sold Status

When to use Sold:
  • Rabbit has been sold to another breeder
  • Sold as a pet
  • Transferred to another rabbitry
  • No longer in your possession

Financial Integration: Consider recording the sale in the Financial section for complete records.

Butchered Status

When to use Butchered:
  • Processed for meat production
  • Culled for quality control
  • Terminal harvest

Production Tracking: Important for calculating meat production metrics and feed conversion ratios.

Died Status

When to use Died:
  • Natural death
  • Illness or injury
  • Euthanized for humane reasons
  • Accidental death

Health Records: Link to ailments/treatments for mortality analysis.

Archive Status

When to use Archive:
  • Retired from breeding
  • Kept as pet only
  • Historical reference
  • Temporarily out of production

Benefit: Keeps pedigree data available while removing from active breeding lists.

Cull Status

When to use Cull:
  • Marked for removal from breeding program
  • Quality issues identified
  • Genetic reasons
  • Planning stage before final disposition

Workflow: Use as a temporary status before changing to sold, butchered, or died.

Reversing Status Changes

Made a mistake? Some status changes can be reversed:

Status History Tracking

BunnySync maintains a complete history of status changes:

Active
March 15, 2024 - Breeder created
Bred
April 20, 2024 - Paired with Buck #42
Kindled
May 21, 2024 - 8 kits born
Sold
July 15, 2024 - Sold to Johnson Rabbitry
History Preservation: Status changes are logged but the complete history timeline feature is planned for future updates.

Bulk Status Updates

Coming Soon: Bulk status updates are not yet available. You must update each breeder individually.

Future features will include:

  • Select multiple breeders for status update
  • Batch processing for large operations
  • Status change with reason codes
  • Export status change reports

Best Practices

🎯 Update Immediately

Change status as soon as events occur to maintain accurate records. Don't wait for "batch processing day."

🎯 Use Correct Status

Choose the most accurate status - don't use "Archive" when you mean "Sold" as this affects reporting accuracy.

🎯 Document Reasons

Use the Notes feature to document why status changed, especially for died or culled rabbits.

🎯 Review Regularly

Periodically review active breeders to ensure all statuses are current and accurate.

Impact on Other Features

Status changes affect various parts of BunnySync:

Breeding Pairs

Only Active status rabbits appear in breeding pair selection dropdowns

Reports

Status filters available in most reports for accurate analysis

Dashboard Stats

Active breeder count reflects only Active status rabbits

Pedigrees

All statuses remain visible in pedigrees for complete lineage

Common Issues

Check the breeder's status - only Active status rabbits appear in breeding pair selections. If the rabbit was accidentally marked as sold, died, or archived, use the reversal options to return them to Active status.

Most status changes can be reversed using the "Undo" options in the action menu. Navigate to the breeder's profile, click the three-dot menu, and look for the appropriate reversal option (Undo Sold, Undo Died, Unarchive, or Uncull).

Bulk status updates are not yet available in BunnySync. You'll need to update each breeder individually. This feature is planned for a future update to help larger operations manage status changes more efficiently.

When changing to sold, butchered, or died status, you can edit the date in the status change form. For other statuses, the current date is automatically used. If you need to correct a historical date, add a note to the breeder's profile with the correct information.
